Presented here is a Gold Plated Medal of French Origin, Round, of the Immaculate Conception sold with its hand made chain, in Vermeil ( Gold plated Sterling Silver).
It has a FIX stamp which was a company founded by François Savard. They were well known for their heavily gold foiled jewelry. They used brass jewelry and they applied a heavy 14 or 18 carat gold foil over it. They also made lots of art nouveau-style jewelry. FIX jewelry is reputed to withstand long-term wear and be easily mistaken for real gold. The FIX hallmark and the Savard hallmark may be seen on the upper ring.
The medal dates from the early 1900’s, mainly based on its Art Nouveau Style. It is in excellent condition for its age and the fantastic Gold foiling made by FIX is still superb after more than a century.
It has a great design with a lot of fine metal work and is an extremely pleasant and attractive pendant.
The chain is included with the pendant
