All Antique and Vintage Rosaries that I list come from my private collection. They are genuine antiques – older than 100 years – or genuine vintages – from 30 to 100 years old. All are in perfect condition and still very much usable. They are unique and a real pleasure to collect or still use.
The item in this listing has the following characteristics:
This is a French Rosary dating from 1882, antique and in perfect condition
1) 7.8 mm average dia. Vintage faceted Amethyst beads for the Ave Marias and medals for the Pater Nosters with Jesus on one side and Mary on the other
2) The beads are top quality amethyst and definitely hand made in view of the small variations in size and shape.
3) STERLING SILVER cross 47 X 30 mm with the bail. Please look at the picture closely. The center also in Sterling Silver, definitely Art Nouveau with Iris flower on each extremity, flanking the cross in the middle.
5. All Metal parts are Sterling Silver.
6. Total length : 48 cm (24 in.) — Total weight : 54 grams – – – This is a large item. It will easily go over the head to be eventually worn.
7. Attached are 7 sterling silver medals:
a- A first communion medal with the Chalice and a very fine design in obverse and on the reverse : an LB stylized monogram and a date – 30 Avril 1882
b- 3 Sterling medals with blue enamel – rare – 2 of which with the Virgin Mary portrait and one with St Christopher
c- A beautiful sterling medal of St Anne d’Aurey and this is the 3rd most popular pilgrimage site in France after Lourdes and Lisieux. It is Located in the Morhiban Region of French
Brittanny.
d- A small sterling medal of our Lady of Laus – Refuge of Sinners and denotes Marian Apparitions that took place between 1164 tp 1718 to a young sheperdess Benoite Rencurel. It is
situated in the south of France
This item is exceptional and of great rarity, it is over 100 years old and still in great condition. Very heavy in Sterling with great Art Nouveau design and many rare sterling and enamel medals
This item has surely been passed on through generations – it is a great heirloom.
