Presented here is a very fine item, rarely seen : A sterling silver medal with very fine open work and black marcassites with chain of our Lady Mary, French made in the 1950’s.
The medal has the usual French hallmarks for Sterling silver
The chain is entirely hand made, but although fitting perfectly is probably not of same period.
It has a very attractive stylized hexagon shape and a gold plated reverse.
This is a very seldom seen item which carries a lot of attraction and beauty..
It is in pristine condition.
The sterling silver chain is offered TOGETHER with the pendant. It is a vintage chain entirely hand made.
Diameter of the medal is 33 – ( 1.2 in)excluding the bail – which is also of same design and has an imbedded marcassite.
Weight of the medal alone is a heavy 6 grams.
The chain is 50 cm ( 20 in.) long and 13.1 grams in weight. Chain length is 50 cm – 20 in.
Total weight : 19 grams .
