Presented here is a very remarkable 18 K Solid Gold pendant, dating back to the 1930’s, with rare and unusual features as follows :
a) It is round with a diameter of 26 mm – without bail
b) Its weight is a heavy 5.53 grams
c) It is made using the “Plique-à-jour” technique : Plique-à-jour (French for “letting in daylight”) is a vitreous enameling technique where the enamel is applied in cells, similar to cloisonné, but with no backing in the final product, so light can shine through the transparent or translucent enamel.
d) The pendant is high relief and made in France. It is a fine filigree cross mounted on a round Plique-à-jour with multi color enamel..
e) It is hallmarked with the Eagle’s head which is the French hallmark for 18K Gold.
Pictures have been taken so that the beautiful Plique-à-jour effect is well seen.
The chain in the picture is NOT gold but Vermeil, which is Gold plated Sterling Silver. It is included as a gift in the offer. 50 cm long and 2.1 gram weight
