1878 Catholic, Large, Uranium Glass & Sterling Silver , Rare Collectible, Unique and Antique

The very exceptional and extremely rare item in this listing has the following characteristics:

This is a Rosary with a medal dating from 1878. It is made with rare Faceted Uranium ( or Vaseline) beads ( see explanation here below) . It has attached exceptional and rare sterling silver medals as follows :
1 - A first Communion medal in sterling silver witha gold Chalice
2- A round medal with an angel and child on the obverse and St Michael on the reverse. It is signed by Penin- Lyon . ( see here below )
3- Another round medal in Sterling Silver with the Virgin MAry on the obverse - and her sacred heart on the reverse, also Signed by Penin and dated 19 March 1878.
4 - I personally believe that the beads date from the 1920's and the medals are older and have been added at a later date.

Marius Pons Jean-Baptiste Penin, born August 15, 1807, in Barjols, where he died on November 20, 1883[1], was a French medalist active in Lyon.
He came from a Provençal family of goldsmiths originally from Deux-Sèvres (La Motte St-Héray) and was the first of his generation of medalists in the Penin family.

Uranium glass is glass which has had uranium, usually in oxide diuranate form, added to a glass mix before melting for coloration. The proportion usually varies from trace levels to about 2% uranium by weight.
Uranium glass is recognized by its luminescence under UV light ( called also Black light) . It is not luminescent in the dark.
Uranium glass was once made into tableware and household items, but fell out of widespread use when the availability of uranium to most industries was sharply curtailed. Most such objects are now considered antiques or retro-era collectibles, although there has been a minor revival in art glassware. Otherwise, uranium glass is now mainly limited to small objects like beads or marbles as scientific or decorative novelties.
Today faceted quality Uranium beads are of high rarity and much sought after by collectors.
