All Antique and Vintage Rosaries that I list come from my private collection. They are genuine antiques – older than 100 years – or genuine vintages – from 30 to 100 years old. All are in perfect condition and still very much usable. They are unique and a real pleasure to collect or still use.

The very rare and large item in this listing has the following characteristics:

This is a Bavarian Catholic 5 decade rosary dating from the early 3rd quarter of the 19th Century ( from medals on the rosary - see below) . It is made of Sterling filigree Silver and natural Bone beads, some tinted.

1. 9.5 mm average dia. Bone round beads for the Ave Marias with an awesome color and beautiful shine.

2. 13 mm dia. Filigree Silver Pater Beads typically Bavarian, with with an oblong shape.

3. STERLING SILVER Filigree Bavarian Reliquary cross 70 X 50 mm with Ceramic inserts on both sides. Please look at the picture closely.
The cross contains a sealed relic as most Bavarian early rosaries do.
It is in perfect condition

4. There are 60 sterling silver separator beads, one between each bead. Rare.

5. Total length of the rosary is 48 cm (19.2 in.)

6. Weight of the rosary is a heavy 111 g, with a lot of silver weight in this figure.

7. Three brass medals and one sterling object in the form of a kidney is attached. It is ver probable that the previous owner suffered from Kidney problems and attached such an object for protection.
The 3 medals are :
- One of Pope Leon 13 and Francis of Assisi - Leon 13 was Pope from 1878 to 1903, this is why I estimated that the rosary was from the 3rd quarter of the 19th Century.
- One of St Benedict
- One of St Gonzaga

This rosary has not been restrung by me, the actual cord being sound and strong. It is sure that the actual cord is not the original one.

The rosary will easily go over the head - any size - to be worn around the neck.

This is a typical example of the Antique Bavarian Filigree silver Rosaries in 5 decades. It is a great and rare item, in pristine condition to own in a collection as well as use in every-day life.

It is exceptional as complete and in very nice condition, dating from the 3rd quarter of the 19th century - practically 150 years old.
