Early 20th Cent. Very Rare Antique Rosary of our Lady of 7 Sorrows, MOP and Sterling Silver - Large Item

All Antique and Vintage Rosaries that I list come from my private collection.
They are genuine antiques – older than 100 years – or genuine vintages – from 30 to 100 years old.
All are in perfect condition and still very much usable. They are unique and a real pleasure to collect or still use.

The item in this listing has the following characteristics:

Very rare antique Italian origin rosary of Our Lady of Seven Sorrows, from the early years of the 20th century, made according to the Servite design, with the exception that the former owner added a beautiful MOP and Sterling Silver cross.

Characteristics of this Rosary are as follows :

a) Sterling Silver medals of the Seven sorrows - extremely rare to find these in sterling silver !!!
b) All metal parts are sterling silver: Connecting chain, rings, medals, center, cross and bead caps.
c) Beads are Mother of Pearl of 8 mm diameter, hand cut. Pater beads are 11.5 mm in diameter and capped with sterling bead caps.
d) Length is 66 cm ( 26.4 in.)
e) Weight is a very heavy 108 grams
f) Will easily go over the head to eventually be worn around the neck with a fantastic effect.
g) Very Heavy in Sterling Silver. Estimated weight of Sterling silver is about 60 gram.

52 beads in total, 7 Sterling medals one for each of the 7 sorrows, ending with a sterling medal of the Virgin with 7 arrows through her heart and also added by its owner a sterling and MOP cross, which beautifies the item.

The seven sorrows are as follows :

Sorrow 1 : The Presentation at the Temple
Sorrow 2 : The Flight to Egypt
Sorrow 3 : Loss of Jesus for 3 days
Sorrow 4 : The way to Calvary
Sorrow 5 : The Crucifixion
Sorrow 6 : The Descent from the Cross
Sorrow 7 : The Burial of Jesus.

In the close up pictures the medals are numbered by same order.

It is beautiful in its simplicity but extremely well done art work on the rosary and especially the cross.
