Prayer beads Tesbih Subha V. Large Vintage Uranium Vaseline Faceted Glass & Sterling Silver - UNIQUE Item seen nowhere else.

All Antique and Vintage Rosaries that I list come from my private collection. They are genuine antiques – older than 100 years – or genuine vintages – from 30 to 100 years old. All are in perfect condition and still very much usable. They are unique and a real pleasure to collect or still use.

The very exceptional and extremely rare item in this listing has the following characteristics:

This is a Prayer Bead Strand - Tesbih - Subha - dating from the first half of the 20th century made with rare Faceted Uranium ( or Vaseline) beads ( see explanation herebelow) .

It is VERY rare in view of its unusual large size, exceptionnal beauty of very heavy sterling silver content.

I). 11 x 12 mm average beads.
Slight size difference attest of individually hand cut beads.

II). The Imam and Tassel are Sterling Silver. The Tassel is specially made for this strand with two beads of Faceted Uranium glass.

IV). This is a very large rosary with total length of 37 cm (14.8 in.) -- It is also a heavy item with Total weight : 91 grams. It also has a lot of sterling silver

All metal parts are Sterling Silver and have been renewed totally. The glass faceted beads are all genuine vintages dating fro the 1920's.

This is a unique item of very great rarity and without doubt the only such item ever presented for sale.

Uranium glass is glass which has had uranium, usually in oxide diuranate form, added to a glass mix before melting for coloration. The proportion usually varies from trace levels to about 2% uranium by weight.
Uranium glass is recognized by its luminescence under UV light ( called also Black light) . It is not luminescent in the dark.
Uranium glass was once made into tableware and household items, but fell out of widespread use when the availability of uranium to most industries was sharply curtailed. Most such objects are now considered antiques or retro-era collectibles, although there has been a minor revival in art glassware. Otherwise, uranium glass is now mainly limited to small objects like beads or marbles as scientific or decorative novelties.
Today faceted quality Uranium beads are of high rarity and much sought after by collectors.
The Uranium glass objects are completely safe to handle as the radio activity of uranium glass objects is hardly traceable and does not exceed that of any other surrounding object of every day life
