This item was basicacally a Catholic Rosary of French origin dating from the 1930's. It has been transformed into a necklace and has less beads than a usual rosary. Instead of having a total of 59 beads it has 53 beads. Therefore it is can eventially be used as Rosary although incomplete in number of beads.
It is made totally of 18 Carat solid Gold for all its metal parts and the beads are genuine moonstones.
Only the clasp is Vermeil : Sterling Silver electroplated with a 4 mm 24K Gold plating.
The Ave beads are 6 mm in diameter and the Pater beads are 9.5 mm in diameter, all round.
Numerous French Gold stamps of the Eagle's head prove the 18 K Gold content on the cross and center and the chain has been tested for 18K.
This item may be worn by women as well as by men as may be seen from the pictures.
The total length of the necklace is 38 cm - 15.2 in. and the cicumference of the part that goes around the neck is 52 cm - 20.8 in
The total weight is 29.25 grams. The 18K gold content is estimated to approximately 6 grams.
