DESCRIPTION
An exceptional devotional jewel featuring an authentic 19th-century hand-painted Limoges enamel portrait of Saint John the Evangelist, recently mounted in a finely crafted solid 18K gold frame.

Saint John the Evangelist, traditionally recognized as the beloved disciple of Christ and the author of the Fourth Gospel, is portrayed with remarkable serenity and spiritual depth. Beside him appears the eagle, his most recognizable symbol in Christian iconography.

The eagle represents divine inspiration, spiritual vision, wisdom, and the soaring theological depth of the Gospel of Saint John. It is one of the four traditional symbols of the Evangelists and has been associated with Saint John since the earliest centuries of Christianity.

The intense cobalt-blue background, luminous enamel, and delicate hand-painted details are characteristic of the finest nineteenth-century Limoges craftsmanship.

Professionally preserved and recently mounted in solid 18K gold, this pendant beautifully combines sacred history, French artistic excellence, and timeless elegance.

A vintage gold-plated chain is included as a complimentary gift for immediate wear.

ABOUT Saint John the Evangelist

Saint John the Evangelist is traditionally regarded as the author of the Gospel of John, three Epistles, and the Book of Revelation. He is often called “the Beloved Disciple” because of his close relationship with Christ.

His symbol, the eagle, expresses spiritual elevation, contemplation of divine mysteries, wisdom, and the profound theological message found in his Gospel. Unlike the other Evangelists, Saint John begins his Gospel by contemplating the eternal Word of God, which explains why the eagle—soaring highest toward heaven—became his traditional emblem.
